The News & Your Portfolio

| July 27, 2015

It’s hard to believe that more than half of the year is behind us.  We’ve had a fairly volatile period in the market.  There are a couple of main topics we want to address so as to educate you on some of the factors we are watching.  Maybe you’ve started tuning out the news, or perhaps you’ve been inundated with so much information that you don’t know how to make sense of how news influences market performance.  As financial professionals, we see how certain topics in the news influence investors’ decisions and can sometimes cause anxiety with where the market is headed.

Keep in mind that there are different strategies for your investments. Strategic investing means you’re looking long-term, 10 to 15 years down the road.  Cyclical investing might mean you reallocate every three months to three years.  Positive and negative news reports greatly influence tactical investment decisions that change based on more immediate trends in the market.  Tacticalinvestments typically are only a portion of your entire portfolio, yet many investors treat today’s news as if it’s the guiding factor for an entire portfolio.

Please join us for our “Half-Time Report” Webinar on Friday, July 31, at 12:30pm EST that will address some of the news topics you’ve heard so much about in 2015.  Jason Steele, the president of Weston Banks Wealth Partners, will present on the topics below:

  1. A Brief Review of the First Half
  2. What Drove Market Performance?
  3. A Look at the U.S. Economy
  4. Strategies for Volatile Markets
